Renovation and Modification of School to Welcome Children with Disabilities

The Suryodaya Secondary School in Baijanath Rural Municipality has been modified to make the school more accessible and inclusive for students with disability. WASH facilities (including toilet, drinking water area), classrooms, the entrance of office room, and pathway to WASH facilities area modified as per the finding of access audit. Similarly, barriers were removed that was existed around the Saraswati temple and way to the classroom to make them accessible for all. The additional fund supported from CBM Global Nepal Country Office to strengthen the DIDRR initiative of CBID project has been used for the modification of this school. This school has selected as an evacuation centre or temporary shelter that can be used during flood. Construction party and Civil Engineer had been guided to ensure the accessibility and DiDRR standard while making the school premises accessible. The modification work is in final stage of completion. After the completion of the modification, a virtual monitoring session will be conducted with CBM so that CBM representative can see and provide their feedback and inputs if there are any further action required.
