Market Assessment: Capacity and Needs Assessment of People Living with Disability…

The majority (56.8%) of the surveyed households found smallholder subsistence farmers agriculture as the main source of their living. Nearly 20% of respondents mentioned off-farm labor as their primary source of livelihood. A significant proportion (35%) of household respondents had faced food insecurity during the last 12 months. The average number of food deficit months was 6.73 months. The reasons behind food insecurity mentioned were smaller land holdings (56%), a lack of labor for farming (46%), and drought (26%). Female-headed households and households headed by people with disabilities were found to be more food insecure.
